Support for Joseph Carnevale — the artist behind the now infamous Hillsborough Street Barrel Monster — has been phenomenal. The story’s been picked up by AP and subsequently WaPo, the Facebook groups total more than 4,000 supporters and now it looks like the Barrel Monster is on Twitter.

Barrel Monster captured, charged
The N.C. State student allegedly responsible for creating the now infamous Barrel Monster in the Hillsborough Street construction zone, has been arrested, WRAL reports. Already there has been a great showing of support for Joe Carnevale on Facebook.

Look at this photo that an N&O photographer stumbled upon
N&O photographer Shawn Rocco was sent down to Carthage, NC last week to cover the aftermath of the awful nursing home shooting. He went to the house of the killer to snap a photo for the paper and found the guy’s target shooting spot out back. Talk about a telling photo.

Bill would ban plastic bags from major store
Raleigh Senator Josh Stein wants to see plastic bags trashed. He has put together a bill that would ban plastic bags from being used at major stores (smaller businesses can keep them). I think this could be a good way to force people to get in the habit of using reuseable bags.
