Painters bang on drums for two hours in downtown Durham
I have a new appreciation for drums now that my BF is teaching me how to play them. So I was excited when I saw this performance art that two painters/drummers recently came up. Check out the short video of this duo banging out a continuous beat in an empty Durham storefront.

Record sales slip with the economy
Music lovers who enjoy vinyl are cutting back on their purchases. NBC17 reporter Chris Cowperthwaite went to a record and CD convention in Raleigh on Sunday at the Holiday Inn at Crabtree Valley Mall. Not surprisingly, some say sales have slipped as folks look for ways to save in these tough economic times.

WKNC launches blog
The folks behind the awesome programming at WKNC 88.1 (N.C. State’s kickass radio station) have launched a blog. It features a sharp design and good information. Thanks to local music blogger Karen Mann for bringing it to my attention. I’m definitely adding it to my reader.

Candlebox to perform at Raleigh Downtown Live on May 30
I owned a Candlebox shirt when I was in grade school (it was a birthday present). I owned the cassette single of “Far Behind” and rocked out to it. Little did I know 15 years later I’d have a chance to see the band live and for free. Triangle Music has the details.

Avett Brothers to open for Dave Matthews Band this spring
Avett Brothers will open for a Dave Matthews Band in Raleigh on April 22, New Raleigh reports. But Jedidiah, a longtime Avett Brothers fan, isn’t so sure this is a good fit for the increasingly popular North Carolina band. Check out his post to see if you agree with his rant.
