• Barrel Monster creator must complete community service

  Remember the Barrel Monster? That goofy-looking barrel creation led creator Joseph Carnevale to be arrested charged with larceny and destruction of property. He had his day in court, and it sounds like as long as he completes 50 hours of community service, he’s out of trouble.

• Raleigh dog owners will have to follow new rules on July 1

  Come July 1, you won’t be able to tie a dog up outside for more than three consecutive hours in any 24 hour period. The anti-tethering ordinance is meant to keep dogs from strangling themselves on their leash, but it may prevent pet owners from tying them up all day long.

• New website helps Durham residents track crime

  A Durham man has created a website aimed at helping residents keep a better eye on crime in their neighborhood. The site is called Neighborhood Protector and it’s not much to look at, but it does appear easy to search for recent crimes in your neighborhood and post community events.

• Save Bronto campaign hosts first fundraiser

• Thieves steal plants from Oakwood gardens

• Barrel Monster captured, charged

  The N.C. State student allegedly responsible for creating the now infamous Barrel Monster in the Hillsborough Street construction zone, has been arrested, WRAL reports. Already there has been a great showing of support for Joe Carnevale on Facebook.
