Blog of the Week

  • Week # 44: Bull City Rising

With a fresh redesign Bull City Rising continues to provide musing, reflections, and general gossip about Durham, NC.
Bull City Rising is a daily blog that covers news, politics, events, downtown, development and more in Durham, N.

  • Week # 37: Raleigh Skyline

The Raleigh Skyline has been around since 2004 posting pictures of you guessed it, Raleigh, NC. With pictures mostly from downtown Raleigh and over time adding a podcast and photosets Raleigh Skyline is one of the best photo blogs online. This week the site features photos from Raleigh Wide Open.

  • Week # 35: Pam’s House Blend

Pam’s House Blend is a progressive political blog based out of Durham, NC and currently blogging from the Democratic National Convention (DNC) Pam Spaulding is the editor and launched the site in July 2004. Since then, Pam’s House Blend has been featured both nationally and locally with media outlets such as CNN, New York Times and Raleigh News & Observer.

  • Week # 34: Dependable Erection

Don’t be fooled by the double-entendre that makes up the title of Durham resident Barry Ragin’s blog. The only expletives you’re apt to find are Barry’s occasional raves on politics or folks who post anonymous comments dissing the Bull City. The blog’s name comes from a funny sign Barry spotted marking a local fencing company. Among the highlights of Barry’s blog are Sunday posts of random church marquees and photos of messages inside beer bottle caps.

  • Week # 32: A Day in the Life: Digital Digressions

A Day in the Life is a great title for this blog being that the author John, aka nematome on Twitter, has been blogging for 6 years and hasn’t missed a day in the last 4.5 years. WOW. Sticking with the title ‘A Day in the Life,’ this technical writer blogs about topics ranging from his exercise routine, daily meetings, dinner and cool things he finds on the web. Additionally if you get a chance to hang out with John, you may see your name in a blog post shortly after.

  • Week # 29: dirt & noise

Iliana is a politically left-leaning mom whose blog offers a refreshingly candid perspective on motherhood, marriage, politics and more. And if that’s not your cup of tea, then have a cocktail. Iliana’s weekly “5:00 Fridays” posts feature tasty cocktail recipes, sure to appeal to anyone who can appreciate a drink at the end of the work week.
