  I love St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. My mom says I have enough Irish in me to justify wearing a “Kiss Me I’m Irish” button, but even if I didn’t have a small claim to the heritage, I’d be downing green beer somewhere.

• New LiLa Music Video Showcases Durham

  I’m not enough of a music fan to know where Durham-based “hip-rock” band LiLa will end up ranking in the world of music, but a BCR reader sent along this, their new video, which does a nice job featuring haunts around Trinity Park and downtown Durham. And it certainly left me, well, slackjawed enough to want to share it here.

• Beggars & Choosers To Close After 32 Years In Downtown Pittsboro

  After 32 years of business, the owner of Beggars & Choosers, Pittsboro’s eclectic vintage shop has decided to take a hiatus after an Oct. 24 robbery during the town’s Street Fair wiped out the store’s jewelry case, cash register and ultimately owner Pam Smith’s faith in her customers.

  Now the station plays a lot of music directly from a computer or some kids bring up their ipods. I primarily use CDs, but also some vinyl. Most of the time I have to turn the CD players on when I’m preparing to start my shift because no one has been using them, that makes me feel like an old guy.

• Joy Of Christmas Returns — Thanks To Tradition

  When I was in my twenties I remember thinking that being a grown up at Christmas was probably pretty depressing. Santa doesn’t come anymore, you have to do all the cooking, present wrapping and cleaning, the presents get smaller and everyone focuses on the kids.

  Now that I have my own child, Christmas has really turned into more fun that when I was a kid and I realize that Christmas isn’t about presents and how much Santa is going to bring – it’s about the memories and the traditions that you establish.
