This is footage taken in the sewers under Cameron Village in Raleigh, North Carolina. Is it a disgusting new life form, or just a great special effect? Either way, I want to know more. [via YouTube]

I have seen the video, and while I do have a degree in biology, there is nothing I am aware of that is even similar to this creature. If it is a hoax, then well done. There are certainly other explanations for this movement other than life, but as far as I can tell if this video is real then that thing is photosensitive and alive.

I figured it was the latest viral hoax, but I have since heard rumor that it is Bryozoa… not positive though.

Another user has uploaded the video. The blob has been confirmed as tubiflex worms. I will be on the WRAL 5:30 news broadcast tonight talking about breaking the story locally on New Raleigh.
