It’s funny that the Trianlge seems to have opened its arms to urban chickens. It was only 5 years ago that the Durham City Council/Planning Department wasn’t hot on the idea. The N&O had a good weekend story explaining how you can jump on board the chicken coop bandwagon:

What chickens require of their coops is simple: ventilation, roosts in the highest place inside, nest boxes for laying eggs and protection from predators. The coops should be in a shady spot, while the outside areas, the yard, should give the chickens a place to bask in the sun.
The owners will need easy access to clean up the inside of the henhouse and to collect eggs.
Reberg-Horton built her coop in three weekends after consulting with fellow chicken keepers about her plans. “I think if you have any basic carpentry skills, you can build a coop,” she says.
