  • Learn about wine at Durham Tech

When I was in college, one of the most talked about classes was the class on wine. How cool was it that you could drink in class? Now Durham Tech’s Orange County campus is offering its own wine class. It will be taught by the owner of Chapel Hill Wine Company.

  • Do you think this is the best way to deal with sexual harassment?

Punk Rock HR blogger Laurie Ruettimannn wrote a guest post about what she believes is the best way to deal with sexual harassment at work. You might be surprised by her advice, but she has worked in HR so this might be good advice. She definitely doesn’t beat around the bush.

  • A sad but true reality for local engineers and journalists

You must click on this link and look at the photo and the backstory that N&O photographer Shawn Rocco posted on his blog. It’s titled “Ghosts of Recession Present” and it will leave you with a better understanding of how both engineers and journalists feel about the recession.

  • Should Durham leaders cap towing fees?

You know towing is an issue when your city council has a permanent subcommittee dedicated to towing, which Durham does. The Indy’s Bob Geary compares Durham’s towing policy to Raleigh’s, and it’s pretty clear that Raleigh residents get the better deal.

  • ACC Tournament tickets go on sale Monday

If you want to go to the ACC Tournament, you can get tickets as early as Monday. WRAL reports that all remaining tickets are upper-deck seats and cost $363 for the 11-game tournament.

  • Could you eat on a dollar a day?

A Durham woman is giving it a try. Rebecca Currie is attempting to only spend $1 a day on food for one month. She wants to prove that just because you’re not spending a lot on food doesn’t mean you can’t eat healthy foods. She’s blogging about her experience. Could you do this?

  • Time for the annual TROSA yard sale in Durham

I wrote a feature story on Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers years ago and saw all the amazing ways the group changes lives for its residents. It’s time for its annual yard sale, so support the group from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 1820 James St.

  • Local photojournalist has proof his winning Obama photo was taken with a camera phone

If you ever wanted proof that N&O photographer Shawn Rocco really takes all the photos on his blog, then take a look at this video he posted of himself taking a cell phone photo of President Obama. What a cool video to have of yourself.

  • Robert Redford coming to Durham to accept award

I love Robert Redford. I’ve watched him in “The Way We Were” dozens of times and wished that I was the one he fell in love with. So I’m excited that Redford will be coming to Duke University on April 18 to accept the Duke LEAF Award, for lifetime environmental achievement in the fine arts.

  • Chapel Hill women urged to be on alert after assault

As a woman, it’s always unnerving to hear about random attacks. Of course, we should always be aware of our surroundings and keep an eye out for anything or anyone that makes us feel uncomfortable. But police in Chapel Hill are urging women to be extra cautious after this attack:
