• Amtrak station will turn into visitor center for Durham city park

  If you’ve ever been to or seen the Amtrak station in downtown Durham, you understand why some folks call it “Amshack.” It’s small and is about to be replaced. The city plans to turn it into a visitor center Leigh Farm Park, a move that will save over $100,000.

• Carolina Rollergirls double header this Saturday

• RENT stars come to Durham

  The Broadway musical RENT is making a stop in Durham, and the show features three of the original Broadway cast members. I saw it on Tuesday and loved it (of course). NBC17 Durham reporter Josh Green caught up with the actors who play Mark and Roger. Here’s his video interview:

• IBM starts cutting jobs in RTP

  The rumors were true. IBM has laid off an unknown number of employees in Research Triangle Park, the News & Observer reports. More than 11,000 employees work at the company’s RTP campus, but it’s unclear how many of them were let go.
