• Triangle viewership of the inauguration tops Nielsen ratings

  More Raleigh-Durham households watched the inauguration of President Barack Obama than any other big TV market, according to Nielsen ratings. I’m sure the snow day helped contribute to the Triangle’s viewership. The Triangle Business Journal has details.

• “I Have a Dream” speech takes on new meaning with the word “homosexual”

  Raleigh resident John was on his way to the dentist Monday when his day turned unexpectedly emotional. NPR played MLK, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. John started thinking about how the speech would sound if you substituted the word “gay person” for “negro.” Read his post and you’ll see why he teared up.

  A Durham economist is using Google docs to track his life in an incredibly detailed way, ultimately measuring his level of satisfaction, creativity and health. You have to take a look at the chart he put together. He challenges us to do the same, but it seems like a lot of work.

  An article in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated suggests Barack Obama may have won North Carolina in the election because he’s a basketball fan. I mean, certainly that’s the only reason UNC, Duke and N.C. State fans went to the polls and voted for him, right?
