Durham gets positive reference in episode of ER
Imagine sitting on your couch, watching ER and all of the sudden one of the characters name drops your town. That’s what happened to Durham resident Kevin Davis. What’s even cooler is that the Durham reference in the recent ER episode is super positive. Kevin’s got the video:

Durham’s new bus station delayed
There’s another gorgeous glass building that has recently cropped up in downtown Durham (the first being the Durham Performing Arts Center). The new Durham Station Transportation Center was supposed to open next month, but now officials are saying it won’t be open until mid-March, the N&O reports.

Newspaper carrier who struck deer trapped in car for hours
An N&O carrier was driving her route at about 4 a.m. Sunday when a deer crashed through her windshield, sending her car down an embankment. With two broken ankles, the woman waited to be rescued. Talk about a scary day on the job.

New dining option near the RBC Center
The Damon’s Grill next to the RBC Center that suddenly shuttered in 2007 will soon reopen as “The Backyard Bistro,” reports N&O retail reporter Sue Stock. The Damon’s was doing really well, particularly after Canes games, but it violated a franchise agreement. The new restaurant will keep the sports bar-esque atmosphere.

Father of NBC17 anchor was on Flight 1549 crash
There was an added element of unease in our newsroom yesterday after learning about the Flight 1549 crash because the father of NBC17 anchor Donald Jones was on the plane. Turns out his father is OK, and once that was confirmed, Donald bravely shared his personal story on the newscast. Watch his interview:
