Get this. A recently-elected Durham County Commissioner wrote a letter to the editor (in this weekend’s Herald-Sun) complaining about his high water bill. Kevin at Bull City Rising thought this was strange and did some research, look at his interesting findings about this elected official.

After all, Bowser doesn’t have a manse; according to County tax records, his is a modest dwelling in the Hope Valley Farms area, that classic 70s ranch, just 2,000 sq. ft. in size according to Zillow. The married Bowser is in his late fifties, and so seems doubtful to have a passel of young kids around the house. (The N&O’s profile on him lists one child; a Google search suggests she’s in her late 20s.)
