  I love meat too much to be a vegetarian. I can’t imagine Thanksgiving without Turkey, but I recognize that there are plenty of vegetarians out there. • The tale of the carjacker who was wacked with a frozen turkey

  What would you do if someone tried to carjack you? Would you fight back? What if it were in the parking lot of a grocery store and you had a frozen turkey in your sack? Would you be quick enough to grab it and whack the offender over the head? Some quick-thinking Fuquay-Varina residents were.

  Looks like N&O columnist Barry Saunders is outing one of my favorite (somewhat) secret gardens in Durham, so I may as well share it with my trusty 30THREADS readers. Grace Garden is located behind the pavillion at Durham Central Park, it’s small and beautiful, just like all secret gardens should be.

  We knew Obama eeked out McCain in North Carolina, but the official vote count is about to be certified. You might be surprised by the results. The N&O’s political bloggers say Obama defeated McCain by 0.3 percent in our state. Who says your vote doesn’t count?

  I returned to the Triangle this weekend after spending a week in my hometown in southern Illinois. Deer hunting season started while I was home, so hunters sporting camoflage and blaze orange sock hats were everywhere.
