It’s still a little more than two weeks until Thanksgiving, yet Christmas decorations are cropping up all around the Triangle. Is it too soon to see wreaths and Christmas trees? Or is the day after Halloween fair game for holiday decor? When do you start decorating for the holidays?

I’ve always waited until a few days before or after Thanksgiving. I have an entire Christmas village that I put up. It’s a lot of work, but it’s so adorable. But some people say Nov. 1 is fair game for decorating.

Great video Ginny! I don’t think it’s too early, I just think it’s been done to death. We’ve had this same stupid, commercial holiday for the past 80 years or so. It’s so old hat, I don’t even notice anymore.
Thank God Hagan was elected. This will be the last Christmas before it gets abolished

i decorated for christmas last april. i just put my easter decorations up this week! i had to buy my paas™ easter egg kit on ebay though. i don’t think they will be in stores until december 32.

I understand that shopkeepers are trying to stir up business and they need to have things up for Black Friday — if I were a shopkeeper, I would probably make the same decision. Although I said otherwise on Twitter, a bit of thought made me realize that the issue isn’t so much with Christmas coming early. Instead, the whole commercial aspect of Christmas is something I’m just exhausted with. Starting the first or second week in November through the end of December, we’re just bombarded with ads reminding us that we need to buy lots of stuff or we will fail to express our love for the people around us, and that message gets really wearing pretty fast. So it’s pretty much always too early for the start of that kind of message.

My birthday is November 28th; our household rule that Christmas decorations don’t go up until after Thanksgiving or my birthday, whichever comes LATER. One thing at a time, right?
