  • A candid look at what Obama’s victory means to one Durham resident

Durham writer Carl Kenney wrote a potent post today about the emotions he experienced as an African-American as the results showed that Barack Obama was about to clinch the presidential race. His essay offers a candid look at the emotions he has harbored over the years and how they were freed Tuesday night.

  • Don’t be sad if you missed Dolly Parton’s performance at RBC

One of our NBC17 photographers covered a portion of Dolly Parton’s Wednesday night show at the RBC Center. He strung together some clips from her songs. I’m still amazed that the weight of her upper body doesn’t tip her small frame over. You’ve got to see how she’s aging:

  • Racist grafitti appears at NCSU after election

When N.C. State students walked through the Free Expression Tunnel Wednesday morning, they were greeted by racist messages left in the wake of Barack Obama’s presidential win. University officials painted over it by 10 a.m., but the fact that it even appeared shows that we still have much work to do.

  • Coach K says Duke students better fill Cameron, or else …

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski was not happy that several hundred seats were left unfilled Wednesday in Cameron Indoor stadium, where the Blue Devils defeated Lenoir-Rhyne. The N&O has two audio clips from him, listen to the first as he tells students if they’re not coming, give him their tickets b/c “I know I can sell [...]
