  • A look at what life is like when you’re homeless in Raleigh

The folks behind Sierra Club Socks, a local fundraising effort that provides the homeless with free socks, interviewed a homeless man in Moore Square and posted the video online. Do you think a video like this is a good way to promote a fundraiser?

  • Watch the Pack celebrate

I’m not big on college football, but I know it’s a big deal around these parts. So I figured some of our Wolfpack fans would appreciate being steered to this video that the News & Observer posted. It features clips of the team celebrating after its big win Saturday.

  • It’s time to go Christmas tree shopping

I went Christmas tree shopping on Black Friday and snagged a gorgeous, full 7-foot tall North Carolina Fraser Fir. We bought it for $45 off a lot in Cary. It’s the first time in several years I’ve had a live tree. I forgot how much fun they are to pick out. Raleigh resident Bill Cummings [...]

  • Here’s what happens when you take young children shopping on Black Friday

When you’re a kid, there’s nothing worse than your parents waking you up early for school, chores, or a family outing. Durham blogger Jeff Cohen’s kids faced a 6 a.m. wake up call on Black Friday. What’s more is Jeff captured their bleary-eyed shoe shopping adventure on video. Watch his three short clips for a [...]

  • Is there too much sprawl in Raleigh?

The words “comprehensive plan” don’t seem so sexy when you’re talking about the future of Raleigh. Maybe “plan to keep Raleigh from turning into everything that’s wrong with America” would draw more attention from residents. Regardless the city document is set to be unveiled this week. • You don’t need to a witch or a warlock to play Quidditch

I thought being able to fly was a prerequisite to playing Quidditch, the extracurricular Harry Potter and his friends made famous at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. But apparently, you don’t need to be able to fly or have a golden snitch. Quidditch is being played with broomsticks right here in the Triangle.

  • Wal-Mart ad fail: Not making lives better on Black Friday

The Toatiest blog has a post called “Day-After-Thanksgiving Web Ad FAIL and just in case you have no clue to why it’s a fail, the ad says “Together we make lives better” But sadly a Wal-Mart worker was trampled to death by Black Friday shoppers yesterday. Just sad!

  • Video: The Raleigh Christmas Parade from a segway point of view

Now that Thanksgiving has past it’s officially Christmas time but last week Raleigh held it’s annual Christmas Parade. 30THREADS had a chance to participate by riding along with the Triangle Segway gilders. Here’s a recap from our cold but fun experience in the parade.

  • New Raleigh’s Thanksgiving poll, turkey, traffic and in-laws

The New Raleigh blog held a “What is your least favorite part of Thanksgiving?” poll with options such as family, football and traffic. I’m surprised that traffic is number 1 but what’s up with family being number 2? Don’t you love eating turkey with the in-laws?
