The N.C. State Fair begins Thursday and runs through Oct. 26. Threadcast got a sneak peek of the food, some of the entertainment and chatted with Karlie Justus, the 22-year-old behind the State Fair’s Twitter account. For more details, contests and prizes, follow @NCStateFair on Twitter or check out the Deep Fried @ the N.C. State Fair blog. Also, if you’re looking to save some money, four canned food items will get you free admission on Thursday, Oct. 23.

The deep-fried Mac and Cheese includes three pieces on a stick. The fried pecan pie is also a hearty serving. The pie was definitely the better of the two.

Hmmm, biodiesel! What a great idea for the used vegetable oil. Gotta be plenty of it at the Fair, that’s for certain.
