Oprah is finally coming to Durham
One of the first stories I ever wrote for The Herald-Sun was about the giant sign hanging in a downtown Durham building declaring: We Want Oprah. That was in 2004, when businessman Ronnie Sturdivant mounted his campaign to bring her here. Sadly, he was recently killed and now Oprah really is coming to Durham.

What if every mile you drive was tracked and taxed?
Gas taxes obviously suck, but they help pay for the roads we use. But what if the gas tax were eliminated? Instead, what if you were taxed for every mile you drove via a satellite-technology system that was embedded in your car? Would that be fair or freaky?
