Is it ever a good time to jump off of a bank building?
I was disappointed yesterday when I heard that the base jumping event was cancelled downtown Raleigh. I didn’t get the memo but heard about it from my coworkers, but looks like both New Raleigh & The Stinging Nettle received the memo, take a look at what it said.

A Red Bull BASE jump was one of several activities planned as part of the RBC Plaza Grand Opening celebration. In light of this week's events, RBC Bank did not feel that a jump was appropriate and decided to cancel it. "Given the recent market activities, we just didn't think it was an appropriate time to have people jumping off of a bank building," said Jamie Mitchell, RBC Bank media relations manager.

Very interesting. I was wondering why they cancelled that. I like their rationale. But they cynical side of me has to wonder: Did you still have to pay for the base jumpers? If so, then shouldn’t they do the work they were hired to do … or yet again is money being wasted. Hmmm.
