How many magazines do you subscribe to?

If we’re all getting our news on the Internets these days, then is their still a need to subscribe to glossy-paged magazines? Raleigh marketing mom Iliana thinks so. Her eclectic subscription list spans 23 titles ranging from Maxim to Southern Living. Here’s what some of what she’s learned from reading them:

Sex sells to both men and women. Children are becoming miniature adults. Everyone eats. Fashion makes us feel like shit about ourselves. Celebrity worship is alive and kicking. Dockers is making a comeback. People still sport the milk mustache. Paul Mitchell must stop starring in his own ads. Target rocks. People are actually willing to spend a mortgage payment on a handbag. Men are eternally trapped in the bodies of 12-year old boys.

I have subscribed to all sorts of magazines over the years, including National Geographic, Smithsonian, Acoustic Guitar, Road & Track, Architectural Digest, etc. Sadly, my only subscription right now is to Maxim – and it was actually a gift.

Haha. I think it’s hilarious that your only subscription is Maxim (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but because I know you in real life, I can’t really picture you as Maxim-only kind of guy. In general, I can see you reading Maxim, but only after finishing a copy of Wired or something like that. :0)

My only subscription is to THE WEEK, which I absolutely love.

This is the online version: http://www.theweek.com/ but I get the printed version.

You know what? I forgot – I do have a subscript to Wired.

I *knew* there was something I was forgetting …

@absent.canadian LOL! How crazy is that, that I reminded you of one of your own subscriptions. Guess I know you better than we thought.

Perhaps I should have included online “subscriptions,” that is, those publications that readers consume online. I’m still a paper girl, even though my laptop is attached to me as an appendage.
