• Did Hanna put an end our drought problems?

  The forcast earth blog is reporting that both Falls & Jordan lake are 6 feet above normal after Tropical Storm Hanna last weekend.  We’ll have to wait a few weeks to see how our water level looks to determine if we’re out of the drought yet.

  I’m not sure if this will be my last post or not but I have the same concern as Steve from the Between the Lines blog, as scientist switch on the large Hadron Collider tomorrow.  It’s a device designed to recreate the big bang. Have you heard of the Collider & are you worried?

• The new Sir Walter Raleigh Gnome now on display?

  While visiting the new convention center at Raleigh Wide Open this past weekend, Jeff who blogs at digitalpapercuts posted a few pictures of the new Sir Walter Raleigh statue in front of the center. He also posted what it reminded him of… a Gnome. Take a look and let us know if you agree.

  The Raleigh Skyline has been around since 2004 posting pictures of you guessed it, Raleigh, NC. With pictures mostly from downtown Raleigh and over time adding a podcast and photosets Raleigh Skyline is one of the best photo blogs online. This week the site features photos from Raleigh Wide Open.

  The Linda Trevor & Company’s Weblog has a post with 9 listing of the “best place” awards that either Raleigh or NC has won in 2008.  The post list a few reasons why the city has won such as the schools, it’s near the beach and mountains and the Research Triangle Park.

  I’m befuddled. I’m not sure if it’s because this tale is so disturbing or if it’s because I’m so disturbed that the N&O put this story on the front page. Please read this story of the Raleigh man who is accused of killing his neighbor’s Chihuahua. It’s unsettling, but front page news?
