  • Time to Triangulate

If you like taking pictures and exploring new places, then you may want to sign up for the Triangulator Scavenger Hunt scheduled in downtown Raleigh this weekend. It seems as though the only thing you need is a camera, $5 and a little bit of creativity. Uh-oh, I have all of those things.

  • The poop is the cake

You’re probably not going to like this post, but it made me lol and I rarely read something funny enough for that to happen. So if you don’t like childish humor and/or can’t appreciate a good poop joke, then don’t read the quote below. It comes from Raleigh mom Iliana.

  • The mailman who hoarded the mail

I hate waiting for something in the mail. If it’s not there the day I expect it, I start to curse the post office. But at least I don’t have it as bad as some Apex residents. An Apex postal carrier plead guilty in court today to not delivering more than 100,000 pieces of mail.

  • A haiku for Tropic Thunder

You’ve probably heard about the controversy around the flick, “Tropic Thunder.” I haven’t seen it, but it seems to be getting rave reviews from folks who don’t mind hearing the word “retarded” repeatedly tossed around. B liked it. And Danielle even wrote a haiku:

  • What images from the Iraq war will be remembered most?

If you want to look at what Vietnam War was like for Americans who fought in it, take a look at the 60 photographs submitted by the war’s veterans on display at the NC Museum of History. With the prevalence of digital photography, just imagine a similar exhibit in 30 years by Iraq war veterans.

  • Dependable Erection

Don’t be fooled by the double-entendre that makes up the title of Durham resident Barry Ragin’s blog. The only expletives you’re apt to find are Barry’s occasional raves on politics or folks who post anonymous comments dissing the Bull City. The blog’s name comes from a funny sign Barry spotted marking a local fencing company. [...]

  • To create an avatar or not to create an avatar

Seems like everyone is jumping on this make your avatar bandwagon. Recently, I’ve seen friends on Flickr, facebook and Twitter change their profile pics. But there are other reasons to use avatars other than your own amusement, our local educator Bethany offers examples.

  • What should be NC State’s new stadium anthem?

NC State wants fans to pick a new theme song for its home football games. The University has narrowed it down to 5 songs. Coach Tom O’Brien says no rap is allowed, so you’ll have to pick from the likes of Bon Jovi and Tom Petty. One NCSU sports blogger is not impressed.

  • Scarves are the latest trend, even in summer

For the first time in months, I pulled on a long sleeve shirt this a.m. It’s not quite fall yet, but with temperatures in the 80s and the a/c working just as hard in the office, I figured I’d be warm for once. Going forward though, I may just wrap a scarf around my neck.
