  • What’s better: Prison or work?

You know your friend is having a bad day when they e-mail you asking if you’d be a character witness should she stand trial for murder. Beverly’s friend just isn’t getting along with her boss. So she took some time to compile hilarious comparisons of the perks of prison v. work.

  • Do you know Harry Caray?

I wonder what prompted this post on craigslist’s missed connections. Here’s what I think must have happened: A guy was walking down the street sporting some thick, black glasses. A woman rolls past in a Hummer and shouts sarcastically out the window: “Nice glasses, Harry Caray.” What do you think lead to this?

  • You never know what you’ll see when you’re driving

I’m a big fan of random signs. I like to photograph them and post them on my blog. Though I’m not sure the sign this Durham resident spotted while driving near NC Central University’s campus would have made it on my blog. It’s a little inappropriate, and I can’t imagine what would have prompted it.

  • Get motivated with Critter

For those of you who don’t know Critter, this will be sort of a pretty personal introduction. A month ago, the very-tattooed Cary resident decided he was going to tone up. Take a look at his shirtless photos to see how well he’s done. Maybe it will provide some motivation.

  • A look at John Edwards’ relationship with his hometown newspaper

The editor of the N&O did something most reporters would never consider. He published and off-the-record conversation he had last year with then-presidential candidate John Edwards. He justifies his rationale, and also provides some interesting insight into Edwards’ relationship with the paper.

  • Should boys and girls sleep in the same bed together?

I always thought it was cool that Dawson and Joey had sleepovers on Dawson’s Creek (my guilty pleasure, even in reruns). I never had a guy friend spend the night when I was growing up. But apparently, it’s not that big of a deal. A Raleigh mom approves of her 5-year-old son’s coed sleepover.

  • Yet another blow to the local newspaper scene

The N&O is closing its Durham newsroom and moving those employees to its office in Chapel Hill. It’s a cost-cutting measure that means reporters and photographers will have to do more driving to get the story. But as Durham News editor Rob Waters points off, it could prevent some layoffs.

  • What’s the best live music venue in the Triangle?

If you ask Jeni it’s not Walnut Creek. She was there last week to see Jack Johnson perform, and while she loved the romantic surfer’s show, she wasn’t too hot on the venue.
