  Several months ago I was upset to find out rape victims in North Carolina must pay the hospital bill for the rape test kit doctors utilize to collect evidence. The N&O did an excellent job highlighting this injustice. Lawmakers recently approved new funds that will prevent this.

• Newspapers are living in NC

  Jock posted a great review of how newspapers are surviving in small towns in NC over at the Carrboro Commons blog. It’s a great article especially for how one newspaper is separating itself from the rest of the papers in the area. It seems that newspapers can survive if they find their writing niche.
