Is your mind on being fit?

I keep telling myself that if I’m going to keep recording videos then I need to lose 20lbs. Maybe I should follow Going the Extra Mile  blog lead and work out in the evning and morning. I’m not sure if I’ll be doing both the elliptical and treadmill back to back like she did but I’ll [...]

Yesterday morning I did 40 minutes on the elliptical, and I got to bed earrrrrly last night. This morning I got on the treadmill and ran for 30 minutes. It was a little hard to get going, but once I did, it felt great! After the run, I did 20 minutes on the recumbent bike.

I have maybe missed 10 days at the gym since I started going at the end of January. It is finally one of those things that can be called a “habit,” and the conversation is almost never, “Will I go to the gym today,” but rather one of, “When will I go to the gym today.”

These are a couple of things I use to keep me going:

(1) This one thing—working out—contributes to so many of my goals: (a) lose weight, (b) maintain my health as I age, (c) feel good about keeping a commitment to do something that’s so beneficial to me, and (d) feeling a sense of accomplishment as I leave the gym.

(2) I remember Stephen Covey’s notion of the balance between Production/Production Capability, which essentially is the idea that if you don’t take time to take care of the thing that allows you to “produce,” eventually you will no longer be able to produce.
