  • Mixing faith and business

Beverly saw a sign on lawn care truck today that got her thinking. It said: “We’re doing God’s business.” The name didn’t seem to fit, given that the truck’s driver was cursing at a nearby teenager. And while she’s a woman of faith, Beverly’s not sure faith and business should always mix.

  • Jesse Helms wills family peace

I wonder how effective a posthumous “don’t make me stop this car and come back there” can be? We’ll find out, I guess. The N&O reports today that the former Senator urged his children not to bicker in his will.

  • Cupcakes where you’d least expect them

There’s something wonderfully charming about buying a cupcake through the window of a 1978 Airstream trailer. To-go cupcakes are something Durham residents will start seeing more of thanks to DaisyCakes. Valerie took her kids to scope out the new business, and they approved.

  • Baby photos you just have to see

One of the first U.S. photos of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s twins was published yesterday. I know, why should we care? There are wars, hunger, and economic and energy crises to worry about. But curiosity will likely get to you and you’ll check out Laura’s Hollywood blog. It’s OK. I did too.

  • Guess what? You may be getting my blog for Christmas

It’s a new trend we’re starting to see, book about blogs.  How does bloggers feel about it? Excited, see LDSM, Soccer Mom who’s blog is featured in “The White Trash Mom Handbook“.  So excited that I think her friends and family already know what they are getting for Christmas.

  • Triangle hipsters, beware

Hey, you with the American Apparel T-shirt and PBR in hand, MusicTechWeb takes issue with you (or at least your style). There’s something about hipsters that drives this blogger nuts.

  • Angry teachers, money cuts a bad mix for education

One thing I know about people is you don’t mess with their money! Teachers seem like they are getting the short end of the stick all the time too. They are meeting the goals required to get the bonus checks but the money isnt’ there. So now we have a teacher shortage and a money [...]

  • I’ll take a cocktail with my kangaroos

Would more people visit the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro if alcohol were more readily available? The zoo’s director thinks so. He’s pleased that Asheboro voters recently approved a referendum that allows alcohol sales in the city, saying it could attract more visitors to the area.

  • Keep those blogs coming!

  • The effort to ban sexy mall advertisements moves forward

Remember the dad who was upset about the sexy Abercrombie & Fitch poster hanging in Triangle Town Center? He followed through with his promise to protest and about 40 others joined him. He also created a website where you can see the sultry picture.
